AlignStar V5 QuickStart Guide
This QuickStart Guide is intended to introduce AlignStar V4 users to the new V5 release. This guide does not represent all of the changes made to AlignStar in this current release, nor is it meant to be a complete description of the improvements and additions made to the product. Detailed information can be found in the AlignStar Help system or in the online knowledgebase.

Accounts
Accounts allow you to map specific locations, separate from geographic territory definitions. Accounts can now be linked by map unit (centroid based) as well as latitude and longitude coordinates.

Personnel
The new Personnel Manager in V5 replaces the rep locations feature found in V4. Support is now included for managing personnel at all hierarchy levels.
Rep Locations in V4 documents are automatically converted to Personnel when opened in V5. Display of Personnel is managed through the layers tab. There is also a new tab in the link maintenance dialog to manage the linking of your personnel data source. For more information on the new Personnel Manager, please click here.

Enhanced Labeling
Support has been added for data labels. Map units can be displayed with up to three labels in basic mode, or nine labels in advanced mode. For more information on the new labels dialog, please click here.

Label Cursor Tool

This new tool allows you to toggle indvidual labels on and off on in the map window. -
Excentric Labels

This new dynamic labeling tool is used to label a neighborhood of objects (eg. Accounts) located around a central point. Click here for more information about the Excentric Labels feature.

Pack-N-Go
Pack-n-Go packages all the files required to open your document into one compressed archive file (.ZIP). You can then unzip the file on a different computer and open the document in AlignStar. Pack-n-Go is accessed under the File menu. For more information on Pack-n-Go, click here.

SmartDraw
SmartDraw gives you control over the display of map layers and associated labels allowing you to set zoom levels at which these items turn on and off. SmartDraw controls are located in a new tab on the Edit-->Preferences dialog. For more information about SmartDraw, click here. Please note that SmartDraw is enabled by default for certain layers such as: Cities, Roads, and 5-Digit ZIP Codes.
