1) Important information for V4 users
This update incorporates an improved document structure. Documents created in earlier versions of AlignStar will be automatically converted to the new file structure the first time they are saved in V5.0. Documents that are created or modified with version 5.0 cannot be opened by previous versions of AlignStar. If you have multiple copies of AlignStar that share documents in your organization, it is imperative that all copies are updated at the same time.
It is recommended that you backup all important documents before installing the update.
2) Getting started with AlignStar V5
Users familiar with V4 of AlignStar are encouraged to view the quickstart guide.
New AlignStar users should start with the online tutorials.

- New Quick Labels feature allows you to set up custom pop-up labels for any linked account level data source. Select up to 4 data elements (numeric or text) from your linked data and have your data pop up instantly when you hover over a point
- New, updated HELP system and tutorials
- Use account rules to change the outline color of your account symbols
- Print individual maps to PDF
- New "Smart Label" placement algorithm optimizes label position and placement
- Improved text support
- Support for higher resolution (double precision) map layers

- Create Optimized territories within a specified maximum distance from existing reps
- Force the Optimizer to use existing rep locations as territory centers
- New Gravitation optimization algorithm uses Newtonian gravitational force equations
- New Radiation optimization algorithm allows data metric to "radiate" warmth to neighboring map units
- New Competitive Cache algorithm employs expansionist tactics and competition to create balanced territories
