If you want to package your AlignStar document and all associated files for use on another computer, use Pack-n-Go. Pack-n-Go will package all the files required to open your document into one compressed archive file (.ZIP) and copy the file to your hard drive. You can then un-package the file on the destination computer and proceed to open the document. Note that the destination computer needs to have a licensed copy of AlignStar installed for you or another user to be able to open the document. If you have Microsoft XP (or higher) there is built in support for extracting compressed ZIP archives. Alternatively, you can use a third party compression utility such as 7ZIP (free) or WinZip® (fee).
In order to user the Pack-n-Go feature you must first create and save your document. Then follow the steps below to package and save your document for transport.
Open the document with AlignStar.
Select File/Pack-n-Go from the File menu. A warning message appears notifying you that your document will be closed, packaged into an archive and then reopened. Click OK to proceed.
The Save As dialog opens with the default filename for your compressed archive entered as document filename.ZIP.
Click Save (or enter a new filename and click Save). Your compressed archive is saved to your hard drive.
